I think brainstorming can be used in all writing styles, since it is a good way to organize one's ideas before getting to work, one necessity that all authors have.
How can peer editing help you improve your text?
I think that this technique is very useful because another person will read carefully your text and will make some comments, in order to help you. After that, you will have to read your text once more and see if you agree with the comments, suggestions or corrections that your peer has made. Besides, you can start replying with your opinions. It helps me to improve my text, because I will always return to my text, read it a lot of times, make corrections. My peer and I will share knowledge and I can learn things, words, expressions with the peer that I did not know before. Exchanging knowledge and experiences are good ways to improve a person's writing skills.
I agree with Larissa and I think that peer editing can be useful in writing. In fact, after a collegue`s revision, I can think and reason about my mistakes, see if the way I expressed my opinion is clear and effective (or not). I can also learn more in terms of grammar and vocabulary and share knowledge with him/her.

Those tools can be useful for many kinds of reading, you can use those same strategies differently, depending on your focus. If your purpose is reading to obtain information, peer-edit the text or even perceive the writer's choices and strategies, your highlight parts, notes, comments and questions are going to be different, but the techniques used could easily be the same.

After that, you can highlight the most important parts and if there is any words that you do not know the meaning, you can look it up in a dictionary. I believe there are some arguments that are not convincing enough by themselves, therefore an anecdote could be a very useful technique to help you convince the readers that your argument is valid. An anecdote is actually a short story, chosen to be in your text to show some aspect of your argument that many times can not be proved by you. That way, if you tell a short story that contains a fact in the past that exemplifies what you are implying in your text, readers tend to assume that what happened in the past, at least once, may also happen in the present or future, therefore they will be more likely to believe in your argument.

I think that a proved argumentation is harder to desagree with.Hence, experts` quotations, documented facts and everyday life experiences are effective argumentations beacause they present reasonable evidence. For this reason it is more difficult to prove the countrary and disagree with them.
